Traffic Disruption

Beginning July 30th, 2026, the northbound lanes of Mission Ridge Blvd will be closed between Knightsbridge Drive and Basing Court for the complete replacement of the existing 16" main water line. This is the line that failed multiple times between 2021–2025. PDE MUD 1 does not anticipate that District taxpayers will incur any cost associated with the replacement.

The work will be completed in two phases as construction progresses north along Mission Ridge Blvd:
‍Phase 1: Knightsbridge Drive to Westham Way — July 30, 2026 – September 18, 2026
Phase 2: Addingham Street to Basing Ct — September 18, 2026 – October 23, 2026

‍Substantial Completion is anticipated to be on October 23, 2026, with Final Completion expected on November 20, 2026. Motorists should expect a full road closure within the project limits as well as a traffic switch. Local access to residences, businesses, schools, and emergency services will be maintained through detours.

‍Temporary water service interruptions are anticipated; affected customers will be notified in advance.

‍In other news: PDE MUD 1 has agreed to coordinate with the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority (CRRMA) and El Paso County to complete the Mission Ridge Phase 2 project. This project was originally awarded by the CRRMA to JAR Concrete in 2019 and was not completed as required. Work will include finishing the stormwater retention pond east of Northumberg Drive and a full restoration of landscaping within the medians and parkways between Northumberg Drive and Basing Court. PDEMUD 1 will then accept the landscaping for maintenance going forward.

‍PDE MUD 1 ha acordado coordinarse con Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority (CRRMA) y el Condado de El Paso para completar el proyecto Mission Ridge Fase 2. Este proyecto fue originalmente adjudicado por la CRRMA a JAR Concrete en 2019 y no fue concluido conforme a lo establecido. El trabajo incluirá la finalización del estanque de retención de aguas pluviales al este de Northumberg Drive y la restauración completa de las áreas verdes dentro de los camellones y banquetas entre Northumberg Drive y Basing Court. PDE MUD 1 luego asumirá el mantenimiento de estas áreas verdes en el futuro.

Water Source Transition

Paseo Del Este MUD1 purchases drinking water from El Paso Water. El Paso Water has begun its seasonal transition to treating Rio Grande surface water to help meet higher summer demand and preserve local groundwater resources.

During this transition, customers may temporarily notice changes in the taste or odor of their drinking water. El Paso Water has stated that the water remains safe to drink and continues to meet all federal and state drinking water standards.

El Paso Water uses chlorine to disinfect the drinking water and continues to monitor and adjust treatment as needed, especially during periods of extreme heat when naturally occurring algae in the Rio Grande may affect taste or odor. Customers with water quality questions may contact the El Paso Water International Water Quality Laboratory at (915) 594-5733.

⚠️ Unauthorized ATV riding

Unauthorized ATV riding on District property and parks is strictly prohibited. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has been notified and will take enforcement action. Violators will be prosecuted, and parents/guardians may be held responsible for damages. Please help monitor activity to protect our community spaces. Thank you for your cooperation.
